Solar park
Project: "Solar Park. Feasibility study Smart Energy Hub: Nijmegen districts and companies in balance".
The municipality of Nijmegen, NXP, 3 housing corporations and The Economic Board are working together in this project to carry out a feasibility study on energy exchange between social housing and companies. The aim is to increase broad welfare by reducing tenants' energy bills and contribute to climate goals, this is central as a research question. By generating more renewable energy locally, the region will become more energy self-sufficient.
An external party will be hired to carry out this study.
The feasibility study examines whether the surplus of electricity generated from solar on roofs of social housing can be supplied to companies. The result is scalable, as the knowledge gained can also be used in other places, where energy exchange between residential areas and businesses is desired.
Sponsor
As the project is still at an early stage, namely a feasibility study, there is no single stakeholder. The Economic Board believes it is important to investigate the potential for energy exchange between homes and businesses in a triple helix context and how this can be deployed in the region. This is why The Economic Board is the lead party.
