National Knowledge and Innovation Centre Network Congestion
Gelderland wants to realise a National Knowledge and Innovation Centre Network Congestion in our region together with Connectr. The Arnhem-Nijmegen region has extensive expertise in electricity and networks. With major players like TenneT, Alliander and KEMA long established in the region, the region is at the heart of innovation in the energy sector. The existing ecosystem in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region, with its knowledge and innovative solutions, can make a major contribution to solving grid congestion. A knowledge and innovation centre focuses on accelerating innovation and system integration in technology. This initiative thus strengthens the regional economy, promotes broad prosperity in the region and reinforces the strength of the manufacturing industry in the East Netherlands through cooperation within the triple helix.
Activities
Using examples from the region, through Living Labs, we show the Netherlands what solutions there are for grid congestion. We want to combine these living labs in a National Knowledge and Innovation Centre for Grid Congestion, under the working name: European Centre for Flexible Energy Solutions. Partners currently working together in this are Connectr, TenneT, Alliander, HAN University of Applied Sciences, Gelderland Energy Agreement, VNO-NCW Midden, Municipality of Arnhem, Province of Gelderland, Oost NL and The Economic Board.
Expected result
In mid-2024, the parties expressed their intention to jointly shape this ambition. They are currently exploring how this should take shape. This is expected to become concrete in 2025.
