Reinforcement plan Microchip talent
Earlier this year, the government initiated the National Microchip Talent Reinforcement Plan (Project Beethoven), which aims to train additional technical talent as soon as possible, who actually choose their employment in the microchip industry. In the coming years alone - up to and including 2030 - the national government expects a need growth of about 38,000 additional technical staff, part of which will be in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region.
The microchip sector provides essential building blocks in the ecological and societal transitions and is of great importance for the economy of the future and thus for Dutch earning capacity and the broad prosperity in the Netherlands that everyone desires. It is important that the task of training and retaining high-tech talent is not limited to the Eindhoven region alone and that business clusters and knowledge institutions in our region are also part of this, in order to ensure that needed talent is also trained in our region. Currently, the central government has designated four regions; Brainport, Delft, Twente and Groningen. As a leading region in the Dutch semiconductor cluster, the Arnhem Nijmegen region also wants to actively contribute to the National Microchip Talent Reinforcement Plan for the national talent challenge by both drawing up its own regional plan and supporting the other regional plans.
Activities
Drawing up a joint Arnhem-Nijmegen region plan to strengthen the Dutch and regional semiconductor ecosystem, including by participating in the National Microchip Talent Reinforcement Plan, in which we and our companies and knowledge institutes, supported by province and municipalities, will make a direct contribution to the training of talent along the entire Eindhoven - Arnhem/Nijmegen - Twente - Groningen axis. In the plan, we will also look at the living and business climate in the region such as housing, infrastructure and the financing required for this, obviously in close cooperation with NOVEX area Arnhem-Nijmegen-Foodvalley, among others.
Expected result
Joint plan of companies, knowledge institutes and government in our region to further strengthen the Dutch and regional semiconductor industry and train sufficient talent, where possible in cooperation with other regions.
