Regional technology promotion
To strengthen the Arnhem-Nijmegen region as a technological hotspot, it is essential to attract and retain talent and stimulate lateral entry. Tech Gelderland fulfilled this role by giving visibility to engineering and technology promotion, but after the loss of subsidy, the platform was disbanded. However, the need for direction and cooperation remains undiminished.
Therefore, together with regional partners, The Economic Board is investigating how technology promotion can be given a sustainable place within the region. This goes beyond individual initiatives; the aim is to develop a structural approach in which companies, educational institutions and governments work together to profile the region as a technology hub.

Strong technology promotion not only helps recruit new talent, but also ensures that students and professionals continue their careers in the region. By sharing inspiring examples and making career opportunities transparent, we can show why Arnhem-Nijmegen is the place for technological growth.
In addition, there is a growing need to enthuse and guide lateral entrants to technical professions. By offering the right information, training and opportunities, more people can enter sectors where the demand for professionals is high.

To be successful, it is important to respond to what drives and inspires talent. Think about sharing innovations, vacancies in technology and personal stories of professionals working in the region. This helps build a strong image and make engineering visible and attractive.
It also looks at the role of existing initiatives and channels. Instead of developing a new platform, the focus is on better connecting existing promotional initiatives and strengthening collaborations. This will increase impact without duplicating efforts.

The Economic Board is committed to giving regional technology promotion a permanent place within the broader labour market strategy. This means an approach in which structural direction and cooperation are central. By connecting businesses, education and government, we ensure a powerful and effective positioning of the region.
In the coming months, talks will be held with stakeholders to determine how technology promotion can be sustainably secured. The aim is to jointly develop an approach that not only responds to current challenges, but also brings talent and technology together in the long term.
