Talent plan Semicon
Lifeport Arnhem-Nijmegen Region is actively committed to tackling the shortage of technical talent in the Dutch semiconductor industry. This is done through the Semicon Talent Plan, which forms part of the National Plan to Strengthen Microchip Talent (also known as the Beethoven project), a joint effort by the national government, the Brainport region and other regions involved.
The Semicon Talent Plan invests in attracting, training and retaining people who will make tomorrow's chip technology possible.
Together with leading companies such as NXP and Nexperia, and a broad network of educational institutions including the Chip Integration Technology Center, Rijn IJssel, ROC Nijmegen, HAN University of Applied Sciences, Radboud University and OnePlanet Research Center, Talentplan Semicon is committed to developing new curricula and in-service training programmes. These tie in with the rapid innovations in the sector and optimally prepare students and professionals for a future in the chip industry.
Whether they are MBO, HBO or WO students, or lateral entrants looking to change careers: the programme offers up-to-date, practice-oriented training that meets the needs of industry.
NXP, HAN and The Economic Board
Public authorities also play an active role. The Province of Gelderland, the Municipality of Nijmegen, the Arnhem-Nijmegen Green Metropolitan Region and OostNL support the project and contribute to a strong regional ecosystem in which education, business and government work together to build a future-proof industry.
Beethoven's impact extends beyond the region. Chips from Arnhem-Nijmegen find their way worldwide to applications in electric vehicles, telecoms and industrial automation. In this way, the project contributes to technological innovation as well as to the international competitiveness of the Netherlands.
