Facing geopolitical tensions and supply chain vulnerabilities, governments and industries are building strategic resilience in the semiconductor sector. We will give an overview of the global semiconductor industry, future trends, and challenges. The EU is responding with its Chips Act 2.0, focusing on strengthening competitiveness and developing roadmaps for industrial resilience. Meanwhile, the Dutch ChipNL initiative strengthens their national industry through public-private collaboration, aligning with the Chips Act to boost competitiveness, talent, and supply chain resilience.
Strengthening Europe’s strategic resilience
The second session explores the European ambitions behind the Chips Act and how they translate into the Dutch semiconductor program, turning policy into action. Experts will share insights on strategic challenges and roadmaps for industrial and economic resilience, with contributions from Niels Back (FME). Learn how small and medium-sized enterprises, represented by Arne Leinse LioniX International, play a vital role in strengthening the ecosystem. Finally, Naomie Verstraeten from Brainport Development will explain how ChipNL aligns with EU goals to boost innovation, collaboration, and talent development across the Netherlands and Europe. This session concludes with a short discussion between companies and as a transition to the last session moderated by Rob Hoeben NXP.
