SMEs, education and government come together again on 3 June, for the Lifeport Festival Circular in Nijmegen's Radboudumc Experience Center. The festival is there for everyone concerned with circularity: SMEs, students, administrators, teachers and other professionals. Here you will gain new insights and make valuable contacts.
Part sessions
In two rounds, you can participate in partial sessions on circular business models, new projects in the region, entrepreneurial stories and innovations. These are the offerings:
Expert session Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
How will the new CSRD guidelines affect your business? We will discuss not only the requirements, but also how they affect your business. Here you can ask questions, exchange ideas and learn how to align your company with the new regulations.

Paint Residue Collection System
In a successful pilot, supported by the municipality of Nijmegen, 6,000 kilos of old paint were collected in two days and processed into new paint. How do we take the next step, towards a regional system in which we continue to collect and process paint. Thinking along?
VR Workshop
Discover the unique perspective of astronauts with the Overview Effect. This experience gives you a new leadership perspective on collaboration on pressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and poverty.
Circular Purchasing
As a purchaser, governments have a role in forming circular business cases. Many coalition agreements clearly express the intention to increase circular procurement. Yet in practice, we encounter obstacles. What are these and how can companies and governments overcome them?
Energy work session
What is the connection between the transition to a circular economy and the energy transition? And what challenges are there? Are innovations paying enough attention to sustainability and recycling? How does scalability fit into the circular transition?
Product park
Part of the festival is the Product Park, with circular innovations and entrepreneurs from the region. Here, unexpected encounters occur and space is created for new collaborations.
Presentation of the Circle 2024
This year, two circular awards will once again be presented at the Lifeport Circular Festival: one for established companies, the Cirkel, and one for start-up entrepreneurs, the Startup Cirkel.
The awards recognise entrepreneurs who are leading the way in circular business practices and reducing the use of raw materials.
The Cirkel and Startup Cirkel raise a company’s profile and, hopefully, inspire businesses that are still in the early stages of their circular journey.
“SMEs practising circular business need a platform to grow. The Cirkel and the Startup Cirkel provide that platform,” said the jury chairpersons.
