From 18 to 24 May, the Lifeport Arnhem-Nijmegen region will once again be centred on innovation, energy and collaboration during Arnhem Electricity Week ( AEW). The region will demonstrate how the energy transition goes hand in hand with the development of talent and the labour market.
Energy Meets Talent: 18 May
A key component is‘Energy Meets Talent’, where businesses and the education sector come together to discuss the future of technical talent. With contributions from, amongst others, Jan van Dellen (director of The Economic Board) and Jan-Pieter Manschot (director of Kersten Techniek), it becomes clear how companies are already investing in the professionals of tomorrow. Here, students from vocational, higher vocational and university-level education discover the many opportunities available within the energy and electrical engineering sectors here in the region.

GreenKarting
GreenKarting technology and electrical energy: 21 May
During Arnhem Electricity Week, the future of technical education will receive a major boost with the launch of GreenKarting on Thursday 21 May, 12.00–12.30, on the outdoor stage at Cleantech Park Arnhem. GreenKarting is the leading hands-on educational programme in which pupils build, maintain and drive their own electric karts, thereby gaining an active and inspiring introduction to technology, innovation, sustainable energy and e-mobility. The GreenKarts form the heart of a topical and context-rich curriculum for secondary education, vocational education (MBO) and higher education. Through a continuous learning pathway, pupils work towards further technical education and careers within the Lifeport region. In this way, technology is not only made visible but also directly relevant to their future.
With support from the Human Capital Agreement, The Economic Board is making a GreenKart available to a school in the Lifeport region. Together with partners such as NXP, HAN, IW Nederland and the municipality of Arnhem, a powerful coalition is being formed that is actively committed to scaling up GreenKarting in our region. By making GreenKarting kits available to motivated schools in the region, the programme has a direct impact in the classroom.
This cooperation marks a sustainable connection between education and business, aimed at strengthening technology education and enthusing students and their parents for a future in technology. At the same time, it offers companies a concrete opportunity to contribute. By making a GreenKarting kit available, they visibly invest in talent development and give engineering education a powerful boost. By making technology tangible and relevant, students are encouraged to consciously choose a technical future. GreenKarting fits well with the Human Capital Agreement and various talent development plans.
During AEW, GreenKarting symbolises a broader movement in which education, government and the business community are investing together in the innovators of tomorrow, in collaboration with the redesign.life Foundation.
Lifeport Student Company Visits: 22 May
In addition, The Economic Board is supporting theLifeport Student Company Visits on Friday 22 May, during which students will have the opportunity to engage directly with innovative energy companies in the region, such as Alliander, TenneT and CGI.
