MTSA Technopower

MTSA designs and manufactures clean-tech devices, systems and machines. With this equipment, which consumes less CO2 and runs on hydrogen, the company helps its customers operate more sustainably. In doing so, the company contributes daily to the energy transition.

MTSA's energy innovations earned the company a Pearl Award. On 16 June 2022, CEO Loek van Veggel was presented with the award by mayor of Arnhem Ahmed Marcouch. "MTSA brings environmental solutions to the whole world, simply from Arnhem," Marcouch said.

Climate as the biggest challenge

According to van Veggel, MTSA works on climate-friendly solutions because there is no greater challenge. "This fits perfectly with the company's history. We like working on big challenges, because we all have to do our bit. Our knowledge of electrification and the difficulties involved can be put to good use."

"For example, you can hardly store electricity. That's why we looked for hydrogen solutions." The company is also looking at the polluting effects of oils and gases. "We started a project where we capture CO2 from flue gases from a steel company. That not only saves emissions, but we are also turning that CO2 into a new raw material."

Finally, the company focuses on electrification. "An awful lot of chips are needed. For cars, but also for all kinds of appliances. We make parts needed for the machines that companies use to make chips. That way we shorten delivery times and cars keep running."

Delivering solutions

Ultimately, the company provides technological solutions to customers in the form of devices and machines. "Our customers do their business with our machines. This often requires large-scale installations and therefore a lot of research. In the field of clean-tech, there are still an awful lot of opportunities."

According to civic entrepreneur Marieke Butterhoff of The Economic Board, MTSA is a special company. "MTSA once emerged from KEMA, Shell and Akzo and has now been present for years as an innovative and agile player in the international energy market. Yet the company has never forgotten its Arnhem roots and is always looking for collaborations with local parties. That's something I like to see."

Mayor Marcouch also sees a lot of cooperation with education in Arnhem: "Our MBO and HBO students are on a roll with such a company in the city. For ten years, MTSA has been ready to help motivated students with their internships and graduation assignments. And after graduation, there are always vacancies ready at the company."
