Electric transport is hot. By 2020, 200,000 electric cars are expected to be on the road in the Netherlands. And recharging your battery can be done en route at a convenient location. Allego takes care of that.
Since 2013, Allego has been working on smart charging solutions and related services for electric transport in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Developments are going fast. There are now charging solutions in all shapes and sizes.
Anja van Niersen, CEO of Allego: "The market is new, so all kinds of things still need to be invented. To illustrate: we are now working on special high-power chargers ready for electric cars that will come on the market in summer 2018. And we are exploring smart ways to green public transport. You will soon be able to park (and recharge) your car and travel directly onwards on an electric bus. We want to open up all roads in, around and between major cities to electric transport."
Charging at smart locations
Charging a battery takes 20 to 30 minutes. Anja van Niersen: "You don't want to wait that time, you want to spend it usefully. For instance, by having a meeting or having lunch. For our charging solutions, we therefore work together with Van der Valk, AC Restaurants and McDonalds, among others. We look closely at what the customer finds important. They don't necessarily opt for luxury charging stations, but for convenience and free choice."
Across the border
Allego operates from Arnhem. There are regional and various international partnerships. Anja van Niersen: "Our region has a unique location, close to the border with Germany. We don't focus so much on the Randstad, but also look in the other direction. To North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, we don't forget where we come from: Arnhem, the energy city of the Netherlands."
