New Dutch has launched an open call: a call for Dutch innovations that are changing the world. Innovations that deserve an international platform, striking examples that enrich the international perception of the Netherlands. Innovations from the Arnhem-Nijmegen region are, of course, a must. The open call runs until 31 October 2025.
Through the New Dutch initiative, Lifeport Regio Arnhem Nijmegen is joining forces with sixteen Dutch cities and regions to enrich the story of the Netherlands abroad. For although we are internationally known for cheese, clogs, tulips and windmills – heritage of which we are proud – they believe this image is too one-sided. What is missing is the recognition of the Netherlands as a country of innovation.
A national initiative
The following regions are participating in New Dutch: Amsterdam, Arnhem, Brabant, Delft, The Hague, Ede, Flevoland, Friesland, Groningen, Leiden, Limburg, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zeeland and South Holland. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC) are coordinating the initiative.
Urgency: Draghi report
The timing is no coincidence. The world is at a tipping point and Europe must reposition itself within a changing world order. Mario Draghi’s recent report (‘The Future of European Competitiveness – A Strategy for Europe’s Competitiveness’, 9 September 2024) contains a clear call for countries to be more innovative and ambitious. For the Netherlands, this means: harnessing our innovative strength, daring to look ahead and redefining our country’s image.
Lifeport Arnhem Nijmegen Region
In the Lifeport Arnhem-Nijmegen Region, entrepreneurs, research institutions and public authorities work together on innovations in Energy, Health and High Tech. This is where solutions for sustainable energy, future-proof healthcare and healthy nutrition are developed – with an impact extending far beyond our national borders. As an innovative region, we want to demonstrate that our region is a frontrunner in these sectors. For us, technology is at the service of a vibrant and sustainable life. So register your innovation.
Open call
The open call is aimed at innovators working in the themes of earth, health, food, tech and culture & society. Whether it concerns sustainable mobility, smart energy systems, innovative healthcare solutions or social innovation: New Dutch is looking for projects that demonstrate how collaboration in the Netherlands leads to an impact on the world of tomorrow.
The innovations selected by a jury will be given an international platform through the media and campaigns – thereby spreading the new story of the Netherlands: a country that not only has wonderful traditions, but is also working together to build a better future.
